Privacy Policy
Overview
Leech Writing is designed to respect your privacy. The app has no advertising SDKs, no analytics services, no crash reporting, and no third-party integrations of any kind. All data you create belongs to you and is stored in your own private iCloud account.
Data We Store
All data you enter into Leech Writing is stored on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, synchronized to your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework. This data includes:
- Writing project names
- Draft (phase) names and starting word counts
- Writing session start and end times
- Word counts recorded during sessions
- A device identifier (Apple's Vendor ID) attached to each session to coordinate multi-device use
Your preferences — including your chosen theme, daily goal settings, and writing reminder schedule — are stored locally and, where relevant, synchronized across your devices via iCloud's key-value store.
iCloud Sync
If you are signed into iCloud, your writing data is automatically synchronized across your devices using Apple's CloudKit private database. This means your data is encrypted and stored in your own iCloud account, accessible only to you. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your CloudKit data.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not collect or transmit your data to our own servers — we have none
- We do not use analytics, usage tracking, or crash reporting tools
- We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way
- We do not access any device sensors (camera, microphone, location, contacts, health)
Notifications
If you enable writing reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device to prompt you to write at times you choose. Notification schedules are stored only on the device where they are configured and are not synced to other devices. No notification content or schedule is ever transmitted to us or any third party.
Live Activities
When you start a writing session on iOS, the app may display a Live Activity on your lock screen and Dynamic Island showing your session timer and project name. This display is generated entirely on your device and no data is transmitted to external services as part of it.
Shared Stats
The app allows you to export your statistics as an image card and share it using the standard iOS share sheet. Any sharing is entirely your choice and is handled by iOS — we do not receive or process any content you share.
App Store Reviews
The app may occasionally prompt you to leave an App Store review using Apple's standard review request API. No personal information is collected or transmitted as part of this prompt.
Device Identifier
The app reads Apple's Vendor Identifier (identifierForVendor) from your device to associate writing sessions with the device that created them. This identifier is specific to Leech Writing on your device, resets when you reinstall the app, and is used only to coordinate active sessions across multiple devices. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
Children's Privacy
Leech Writing does not collect personal information from any user. The app is suitable for users of all ages and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date.

Terms of Service
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading or using Leech Writing ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
License
Leech Writing grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms of Service.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to circumvent any technical limitations in the App
Your Content
All content you enter into the App — project names, phase names, word counts, session records, and any other data — belongs entirely to you. We make no claim to ownership of any information you store in the App. Your data is stored in your own private iCloud account and on your own devices; it is entirely under your control.
iCloud & Data Availability
Synchronization of data between devices depends on your iCloud account and connectivity. The developer is not responsible for sync failures, data conflicts, or delays caused by iCloud service interruptions. iCloud is a service provided and operated by Apple, not by the developer of Leech Writing.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE DEVELOPER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE DEVELOPER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER OF LEECH WRITING BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES, LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Data Loss
While iCloud sync provides a form of backup across devices, you are ultimately responsible for your data. The developer is not responsible for any loss of data resulting from device failure, accidental deletion, iCloud errors, operating system updates, or any other cause. Maintaining independent backups of important data is always recommended.
Intellectual Property
The App, its design, code, and all associated content — excluding content you create — are the intellectual property of the developer and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved.
Third-Party Services
The App uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services for data synchronization. Your use of those services is subject to Apple's terms. No other third-party services are integrated. Your use of the App on an Apple device is also subject to the Apple Standard EULA.
Termination
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of their provisions. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and delete it from your device.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in California.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect.
Changes to Terms
The developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
